Small Odysseys is rawcus’ latest new work and is currently in development.
Set in a large cavernous space, Small Odysseys explores the notions of great quests, from the epic to the personal, and notions of heroes and heroines. What does it mean to be brave, what drives us to be bold and propels us to speak out? Combining moments of vulnerability alongside moments of potency, this work will continue rawcus' trademark style of strong visual imagery, magical realism with moments of tenderness, anarchy, humour and heart.
Inspired by the sculptural work of artists Ron Mueck and Slinkachu (Little People in the City) Small Odysseys will play with the extremes of scale examining our sense of size and potency in the world. Collaborating with sculptor Shaun Pattern, the rawcus ensemble with perform alongside negotiate and manipulate objects of great size as well as miniature sculptures and landscapes.
Small Odysseys will premiere in October 2010
